That was one of my top three times I've ever done, so at this point, I'm really happy with the way the race turned out.
It felt really good. I was kind of hurting the last 100, but my splits stayed even the whole entire way. I was definitely happy with the way I split it and the way I swam it. And I was also happy with my time. It was my best time.
It's happened to me a couple of times now: People go nuts when I'm at that stage in the race.
The last few years haven't been as good so I can fly under the radar, come in and do the best I can and I don't have all these high hopes placed on me.
When I look back, I'm definitely proud of what I did. It kind of allows me to move forward and reset my goals.
If I could compete at home, and never leave Rochester, I'd be in perfect condition.
I'm not saying I didn't have a great 2008. I just made it a chore. I made it look laborious.
I'm more relaxed and just feel like there's kind of a peace with myself.
I'm just going to go out there and do my best.
To break the mark definitely showed me I'm on the right track.
Just based on training, I had pretty high expectations coming into this.
Hopefully I can break some records, get some medals.
I like underwater pole vaulting, because you can have perfect form without the risk.
I feel like I'm more of the underdog, which is kind of nice.
