After 18 years, for them to stoop to that kind of level, that's no class. And that's something I'll never forget.
We were totally self-contained with our own food and everything. We didn't want to take even one bottle of water away from these people. When we told them we were doing this for free, they looked at us like we were crazy or something.
I was in ankle-deep water for 18 years, never took a dangerous step, content as hell,
Starting off my career, I wasn't a good free throw shooter, and I worked at it and worked at it, and now I want to go up there and shoot free throws, and now... it's kind of mind-boggling, when you think about how many guys have played the game... when I finish playing and I look back on it, I think it'll be huge. Right now I'm still playing the game, it's kind of tough to really stop and think about it.
Look at this, scabs and cuts all over me, I get these every night, every game. They can't tell you that you're not at risk, and you can't tell me there's one guy in the N.B.A. who hasn't thought about it.
But I think anybody who believes I could force coach Sloan to resign is crazy. He's stronger than that and personally if I said that to him, he'd probably go tell me to go do something.
Somebody tell the damn players to start playing like old school.
Did you really think I would sell you out?
I never felt I had the kind of relationship with Magic that I could just pick up the phone and call him at home.
We had one guy come up to us and tell us to go to another neighborhood and that these people could afford to pay, ... I told him, 'Why should they pay? They just lost everything.'
It's going to be all right, ... I feel it right here. My gut.'
I'm going to take some time with my family and talk everything over. I know this: I will not disrespect the Lakers or myself by coming back if I'm not 100 percent. Not 95 percent or even 99 percent. 100 percent!
I love it the way Terry always mentions Louisiana Tech,
Everything about this just felt right. My mom died two years ago, and in our last conversation, she told me that one day I would have to step up on a grand scale and help people. I knew this was it.
