cared friend game took whatever
There will never be another Mariano Rivera. He was a friend and a champion of a teammate. He really cared about the game of baseball, the way it was played, and whatever it took to win that night.
game turns
He comes out of the game and everything turns around.
jobs games feel-good
You have to understand what they (pitchers) do. That's my job. You have to find a way to get them through the game if they're not feeling good. When everything is going good and they're feeling one-hundred percent, it's my job to keep them that way. And you know what? If I see something, I'm going to let them know.
jobs knowing games
My favorite part (of the game) is knowing that they're comfortable, knowing that, no matter what, they can count on me. What I really enjoy most about catching is the relationship with a pitcher. The most important thing is they can relax when I'm back there and know that I did my job, I did some homework on hitters.
dad smart games
My dad was the first one who said, 'You're going to end up behind the plate because you've got a very good arm and you're very smart when it comes to calling a game.'
games calling plates
When you're aggressive behind the plate, calling a game, that's when you're at your best. You can't be tentative.
games looks ifs
You can always look back on having a good defensive day, even if you didn't do anything offensively. You won the game and you contributed.
best pitcher power randy stuff
Randy is Randy and his power is incredible. But Wang has the best stuff in our clubhouse, no doubt. He'll be our No. 1 pitcher eventually.
You don't know what he's going to do, ... He's tough. You have to give him a lot of respect.
best
You go for the best pitcher. He's been the best pitcher.
cost field mistakes ready
There's not much we can do, ... We lost, we made some mistakes in the field that cost us the game. Now we've got to be ready (Sunday).
front
There's nothing he could do. I'm right in front of the plate.
front puerto wear
I was upset. Obviously, I wanted to play for Puerto Rico. I wanted to play in front of my family, to be there and wear that P.R. on my shirt. But it didn't happen.
good great
One of them was away and up, the other one was down and in, ... I thought they were good calls. I thought he did a great job.
