doubles draw enter received singles small win
I received a wildcard to enter the singles draw just two weeksbefore the tournament... Honestly, It's a small tournament. I would want to play it with someone can win the match. I wanted to play with Johansson, but he paired with someone else in the doubles draw, and that's why I didn't enter the doubles event.
change goes positive rules talk
(The ATP) goes in and say 'We're going to change the rules of tennis,' ... The ITF is not going to change it...We need to do more research. And we just need to talk positive about the doubles.
guys impressed plays power younger
I'm not surprised. He's so smart. He plays with his head. What really impressed me was how he managed to take the power of the younger guys so well.
business directors fresh ideas people players position tournament willing
The tournament directors have a lot of ideas, and the players have a lot of ideas, ... Unfortunately not every tournament director is willing to listen...and we probably don't have the right people in position (at the ATP). We need some fresh people in there, some new business people in there.
believed half moment nice playing time waiting year
I've been waiting for this moment for more than a year and half to be playing this well. There was a time I believed I may never play this well again. It's nice that it's back.
direction excited guy worldwide
I am excited about the new guy de Villiers, ... We need a new direction...we are worldwide very well known. It shouldn't be so difficult.
We need to be a little more like a (player's) union.
bruce heard reached spoke talking tournament
What we've been talking with the ATP hasn't reached the tournament directors, ... I spoke to (Cincinnati Tournament Director) Bruce Flory and he hadn't heard of some of the things.
great quality
It's great to see his quality out there.
good hard
It's always hard to play a countryman. We are very very good friends and do a lot of things off the court.
doubles job lousy promoting
They're doing a lousy job of promoting doubles that's the problem.
based change complete decisions open players rules smart
They (The ATP) went in and said 'We're going to change the rules of tennis'. They haven't even consulted our players before they made up their decisions I am open to any change but it must based on the smart and complete research.
gave played solid
I played really solid and never really gave him a chance.
encouraged player singles
I play singles and doubles, and I think that's what every player should be encouraged to do.
