believes christine grant money movies realistic thinks wants weirdo
We have to make money or they're never going to give it to us. Christine understands that. Let's be realistic here. We don't have a grant anymore. We have a budget. And she really wants and believes and thinks of a way for these weirdo movies to make money.
mother real makeup
The first real thing was Divine as Jackie Kennedy [in Eat Your Makeup]. His mother found the bloody Jackie Kennedy outfit in the boot of his car and said, 'What is this?" and Divine said, "I am Jackie Kennedy!" His mother just changed the subject; she didn't know what to say.
real class people
It took me a while to figure it out, but to have a real hit on Broadway, you have to get the respected Broadway people to like it. But then the production also has to appeal to the most middle-class people who know nothing about Broadway and who come to see it later.
real surprise enough
It isn't enough to shock. It's easy to shock. Real surprise is what I'm after.
fun real hippie
If you purposefully look to shock people, it isn't funny. That's what 50 million dollar Hollywood comedies do; try to be shocking and dirty. They aren't really. It isn't enough to shock. It's easy to shock. Real surprise is what I'm after. Those early movies, we had drugs, which you weren't supposed to show. You weren't supposed to shoot up. We would make fun of hippies. I think that we were punk before there was punk.
sexy real ironic
Irony ruined everything Even the best exploitation movies were never meant to be `so bad they were good`. They were not made for the intelligentsia. They were made to be violent for real, or to be sexy for real. But now everybody has irony. Even horror films now are ironic. Everybody's in on the joke now. Everybody's hip. Nobody takes anything at face value anymore.
people understand water
People don't understand how this water went, and people don't understand this bridge.
building people
The thing I wanted to do was show that it's about the people that come in this building every day.
maybe trouble watch wish
I wish something on T.V. would trouble me. Then maybe I would watch it.
Isn't that the most perverse thing you've ever heard?
asks brand buy christmas exact model numbers prepared sells store type
Always be prepared if someone asks you what you want for Christmas. Give brand names, the store that sells the merchandise, and, if possible, exact model numbers so they can't go wrong. Be the type who's impossible to buy for, so they have to get what you want.
christmas rabid sucker worried
Being a traditionalist, I'm a rabid sucker for Christmas. In July, I'm already worried that there are only 146 shopping days left.
beyond bravery caught coming glamour great humor
Making out with Divine, that's beyond the bravery of coming out. He was hassled about being gay. You couldn't come out. It was illegal. But he had a sense of humor about the glamour he was caught in. He's a great sport, and a great star.
bad entertainment taste
To me, bad taste is what entertainment is all about
