ball blossoming consistent defends extremely good key mitchell point quite ratio role scoring seems
Darrel Mitchell seems to be kind of blossoming in that role and flourishing as a point guard. His assist-to-turnover ratio is quite good (4.6 assists to 2.9 turnovers a game). He defends well. He's really scoring the ball well for us. He's probably the key to our team. He's extremely consistent at what he does.
consistent game good guys mitchell night player question valuable
Darrel Mitchell is without question the most valuable player in the SEC in my opinion. He is the most consistent player. Other guys may have had better games, but he has good game and after good game and has not had an off night yet.
ball double hand men mitchell post run screen shoot stagger
We didn't have any timeouts, so we have a 45 set that we put Darrel Mitchell in a corner, and we hand him the ball and have our two post men (Davis and Thomas) go run and set a double stagger screen on him and just let him find a way to shoot it.
mitchell took
You say they took Darrel Mitchell out. We took out Green. That's pretty much a tradeoff.
ability bigger execution guard guy mitchell needed ourselves physical rhythm seemed struggling
I think the ability of Felix to guard Darrel Mitchell as he did -- a bigger guy, a physical guy on Darrel -- we never really got ourselves in a rhythm on offense. It seemed like to me we were always struggling on offense. For the most part, our execution wasn't where it needed to be.
last mitchell
I know Darrel Mitchell has something to prove. This is his last go-round.
ben great man people send tried
We tried to send people stunting and tried to man up on him, but Ben had great feet.
against ball quick score tried
We tried to score a little too quick against their zone. We got the ball where we wanted, but we tried to score without getting the ball reversed.
man playing stop
We were playing man and couldn't really stop them.
determination five goes maybe might minutes opposed playing rest short week
We might just have to play Tyrus in short stretches. As opposed to playing him 12 or 14 minutes straight, maybe he can just go five and we'll take him out, let him rest and put him back in. The more he plays, the better he'll feel and the more comfortable he'll feel. We'll make more of a determination of that as the week goes on.
field foul free next night percent
We're usually 69, 70 percent at the line. If you're not making field goals, the next thing you try to do is try and make it up at the foul line. We had 28 free throws, but we couldn't make those, either. It was that kind of night for us.
against ball half mean nine patient points team time worked
We scored nine points and had 10 turnovers in the first half against a zone! When I tell the team to be patient I don't mean make 40 passes, just four. Every time we worked the ball around, we got it inside.
coaches eliminate extremely players tried trust
I've tried to eliminate that from my thought process. But I got it. Trust me. I got it from so many people. I got it. I know it was disappointing to us as coaches and to our players and extremely disappointing to our fans.
along ball critical far games good helped holds maybe moments shot shots timely
I've said all along that if our perimeter holds up, we're a pretty good team. So far our perimeter hasn't shot the ball as well as maybe we would have liked, but I think we've made some timely shots in critical moments of games that have helped our team.
