We knew early on that Duke was going to try and pressure us, do what they do best and get in lanes. Our team was able to fight through that, and we scored some easy baskets on them. We did a nice job in the first five or seven minutes, and after that, they knew they would be in a contest.

Well, not really. That wasn't the master plan. We were scrambling. We wanted to trap twice and then foul whoever had the ball. And honestly I thought we fouled a little early (with 24.4 seconds to go), but it worked out. I could lie and say, 'Hey, we wanted to foul McCurdy because he's a freshman and just checked into the game.' But it was one of those things that worked out. And then I thought we were going to miss the rebound. It fell on the floor there a little while.

Our league took a hit from people early because we had so many players graduate and so many players leave early (for the NBA), but this was a league with a lot of young talent and with some outstanding coaches. Our league improved as the year went along, and with two teams in the Final Four, I think we've proven ourselves to be a lot better league than people thought we'd be.

We might just have to play Tyrus in short stretches. As opposed to playing him 12 or 14 minutes straight, maybe he can just go five and we'll take him out, let him rest and put him back in. I've said all along that if our perimeter holds up, we're a pretty good team. So far our perimeter hasn't shot the ball as well as maybe we would have liked, but I think we've made some timely shots in critical moments of games that have helped our team.
