biggest changed level seemed work
I don't think his at-bats have changed a lot. Sometimes, you just don't get hits. The biggest thing is you keep your frustration level down, and he has seemed to work through that.
seemed top
It's kind of mind-boggling to us because he seemed to be on top of his game. I know he's much better than that.
game last locks seemed seen starts top twice
It's kind of mind-boggling because he seemed to be on top of his game tonight. He's done it twice in his last two starts and the organization has never seen him do that. He usually locks in and focuses more.
ball bit breaking easy pitcher point score seemed
It seemed like the left-handed breaking ball was a little bit more of a strikeout pitcher than the right-handed breaking ball. The point I made is that it's not easy to score runs.
coming concerned happy knee played seemed stronger
He's been outstanding and he's played very well. We were a little concerned about his knee coming into camp, but that's seemed to get stronger and we're happy with the way he's played.
kept
Too many 2-0 counts. But he kept us in the game.
innings season setting start
We just need to get a lot of innings in for a lot of people. We'll start setting up for the season after this round.
difficult game hit runners ugly win
It was an ugly game for us. We didn't pitch, we didn't play defense, we didn't hit with runners on. It's difficult to win a game like that.
beat home run second solo third
The solo (homer) doesn't kill you in the second inning. It's the home run in the third that really hurts. Howard beat him today.
bottom picked pile protect ran series sixth thinking trying won
I started thinking about it in the sixth inning. At the end of the game, I ran out and picked him up. I was trying to protect him. I had been on the bottom of the pile when we won the World Series in 1996, and it wasn't much fun.
game keeps
Is it unfair? In a sense, yes. But I think we all know why we're doing it that way, and that's part of what makes this game tick. It's what keeps salaries up.
forecast forecasts matters mean nature press rain reading
I've been reading press clippings about what I can do and what I couldn't do for a long time. That's just the nature of the business. ... Forecasts are forecasts. It's forecast to rain today, probably, but that doesn't mean it's going to. What matters is what we think about ourselves.
advantage best hard manager somebody work
It would be hard to say you have an advantage over anyone. The idea of a manager is to get the most out of your players, and everyone does it differently. I'm just doing it the best way I know how. That doesn't give me an advantage over somebody else. This is just my method. It may not work for other guys.
coaches great last league major month opportunity spring timing tournament wish
It would have been a great opportunity. I just wish the timing was different. I don't think major league coaches can be part of this tournament because it could last the whole month of March, when we're in spring training.
