credit high impressed leagues minor people players quality raising succeed talent
I was impressed by how the young talent was able to succeed at such a high level, ... That's a credit to the organization. First of all, the players who they're drafting, and then the quality of the people in the Minor Leagues who are raising these players up. And then, the manager, Jack, getting the most out of them.
born came enjoyed high love player players school since studying team
Since high school I've wanted to do this. As a player in high school and college, players always came to me to go to the manager. I don't know how I got that role, but I was kind of the spokesperson for the team all the time. I enjoyed it. I enjoy the competition, and I love studying the game. I think that's why I was born to manage.
expects good great high player works
Those are high expectations. But I think he expects to be a very good player for a long, long time. He's very talented. There are things he can do. He works hard. He has a great attitude. We expect big things from him.
good saying
There is probably not a lot of good that can come from me saying anything.
shave
With our guys, it shouldn't be a problem. They're probably too young to shave anyway.
pressure youthful
We're youthful and we need to put pressure on the other teams.
experience finish fire great houston might picked teams thrown top
We're thrown right into the fire, Houston and New York. Why not? Two teams that are picked to finish at the top of their divisions. Obviously, we're going to have to play them at some point. Might as well play them the first week. I think it's a great experience for our young players.
best great guys learn triple until
To me the best way to learn is on the job. You could keep guys down until they're 24 and 25 and they have great years in Triple A, you still don't know if they can do it here.
chance score
We had a chance to score in the ninth, we just didn't get it done.
bee catcher flew home oh run saw
We had a bee swarm come through. Flew over the dugout, right over home plate. Saw the catcher run from the Dodgers. Oh my goodness, I was gone.
biggest changed level seemed work
I don't think his at-bats have changed a lot. Sometimes, you just don't get hits. The biggest thing is you keep your frustration level down, and he has seemed to work through that.
catch ok regular sure
We're just being protective. He was OK to play today. But we're going to make sure that he is OK during the regular season. He will catch Saturday.
camp great guys positions push veteran wide
Those positions are wide open. We have a veteran in Reese and two young kids. To me, this camp is great because guys will have to push themselves.
enjoyable enjoyment hard proud watch
What's enjoyable to watch is how hard they're playing. I'm proud of them.
