compete competing far guys mistakes record starts
This isn't new. It's the same old, same old. We have to put in young guys to compete, so it starts with competing hard. As we compete hard, we make far too many mistakes and that's why we have the record we have. We're a mistake-laden, inconsistently competitive team.
huge last playing shot weapon
The way we're playing ... we're offensively inept. Last year, the 3-point shot was a huge weapon for us. This year, it's a huge detriment.
Of our 16 turnovers (Wednesday), a lot were from being irresponsible and careless.
against effort habit quickness truly
Against that team, we're at a quickness disadvantage. So it makes it look like an effort disadvantage, when it truly is a quickness thing. And we don't have the habit or discipline.
bench came gave good played
I thought our bench played substandard. We had a good start, and then our bench came in and gave up the lead.
basketball iq
I thought our basketball IQ at the end of the game, up 11, could have been a lot better.
decision group mistakes ownership spend teams themselves willing
I think every ownership group makes a decision on how much they want to spend. Teams that are willing to spend more can get themselves out of mistakes more readily.
guys hard talent
Our guys competed really hard for the most part. It's wasn't like we overwhelmed them with talent, that's for sure.
difficult goes guys hard hit shots start team time
Our guys try hard on defense. Any time a team goes 1-for-18 (to start a quarter), they are probably going to hit some of those shots most times. We got back and made things difficult for them.
both decided fond great guys hope hurts injuries interested opportunity pick point rockets stay talked though together works
I talked to him about (that) we need to pick up a point guard, and also he had an opportunity out there to go and I think play for Denver. We talked about it. I think he decided it was not something he was interested in doing. We told him we were going to waive him. He decided I think to retire. I hope something works out to where he can stay in the Rockets organization. He's a great guy. Even though we were only together for a little more than a year, I was as fond of him and (Bob) Sura as any two guys I've ever coached. Personally, it hurts a lot that both had injuries that impacted them and us.
allen arenas body far gets last neither package size tape teaching team
I think in the last quarter, neither team would use it on a teaching tape for defense. I know Gilbert Arenas gets credit, but he's Allen Iverson in a different package as far as body size and strength. He's competitive. He's quick. He attacks. He makes 3s.
great presented ryan
I think that is what presented itself. They were unselfish, Ryan (Bowen , who was guarding Jamison) slipped, Jamison had a great look and we were fortunate.
adds hard improvement progress rookie slowly small
It is infinitesimally small progress each day so it adds up so slowly it's hard to notice. But if you look back, even from (the end of his rookie season) to now, the improvement is so great.
foreign half
Like most American or foreign players, he understands about half of what I say.
