best great known players
I would never have known he had 32 points. He does so much for us. He's a great leader. I think he's one of the best players in the country.
ball both coaching decision gets hands player
You just feel like they take coaching out of your hands. You just feel like, 'I got a coach out there, we're going to put the ball in his hands and then he's going to make the right decision and he does it every time. If he gets fouled, he's going to make the shots, both of them. I think I've said this before. I had Speedy Claxton (at Hofstra) who was just like that. I never thought I would get another player like that, and I have two of them. I don't know, I did something right.
against anywhere college gerry home last loved magnitude means played player playing terms
I don't know what to expect. I don't think we've ever played anywhere against a player of this magnitude in terms of what he means to a program, in terms of what he means to college basketball. A player that's as loved as Gerry McNamara playing his last home game? I don't know if we'll ever do this again.
best biggest confidence hide lights player stressful throw
One of the things you can't hide is how a player is going to play in the most stressful conditions, when the big lights are on. You throw them into the fire, you see how they respond. You know if they're a player or not. You can just see it in their face. You can see it their confidence level. And in those two, they responded the best in the biggest game.
difficult front people plans players realizing seed talking
It was so difficult because we were a one seed and people were talking about making plans to Minneapolis right in front of our players and not even realizing what they were doing.
concepts country explain gets great mention players rest shows smart talk tv watch
It's amazing, I watch all the TV shows and I see them talk about all the great players in the country and they never mention him. He's so smart in everything. All the little concepts we tell him about, he gets it and can explain it on a player's level. That's what he does with the rest of the guys.
advantage enjoy enjoyment hanging players road spend team time
We really enjoy as a team the time that we spend together, just coaches, players hanging out. We always get that on the road. There is an enjoyment to being on the road for us and that's what Minneapolis will be like. We think we're even tighter on the road. We're going to really take advantage and enjoy that.
coaching lucky player
They take the coaching out of your hands. I never thought I would get another player like Speedy Claxton and I got two of them. I'm a lucky man.
bang bigger defend dirty enjoys guys mind players position post smaller
A lot of times bigger players have to bang inside, they have to do the dirty work, they have to screen, they have to defend in the post, they have to post up. If a smaller guys doesn't mind doing that and actually enjoys doing that, he can play that position and that's what we have.
confident faith gone great injuries jason mental player reservoir strong
Jason has gone through more injuries than any player we have ever coached. He has a great reservoir of faith and mental toughness. We are confident he will come back strong from this.
guys losing player status
I think these guys have been through so much - normally, losing a player of Curtis' status would be devastating.
patient player
He's been as patient as any player I've ever had.
happiness happy players strong teams
Look at the teams that get No. 1 seeds. They're always traditionally strong programs. I'm happy for all the Villanova players that we got that.
bit coaches fans great guys happens hell lost players sure today toughest understood win
It?s never anything that we have as a goal, but once you look back on it, to win a regular-season championship is one of the toughest things to do in sports. Coaches and players know that. Fans usually get into tournaments and things like that. And that?s OK. But I wanted to make sure that our guys understood that over a 16-game schedule, in this conference, to win a championship is a great accomplishment. If we would have lost today and been 13-3 in this conference, that?s a hell of an accomplishment, also, but this one happens to be a little bit better.
