ball behind confident good last necessary next ongoing pitches step stretch throw
During that good stretch last year, he showed that he could keep the ball down and throw his off-speed pitches behind in the count. It's an ongoing process, but I'm confident he'll do all the things necessary to take that next step this season.
bag base bit closer extra giving guy keeping lead main step throw
The main thing about it is, especially if a guy's on second, it'll shorten the lead of the runner. If it's a base hit, you're keeping him a little bit closer to the bag and it's giving the outfielder an extra step or two to try to throw the guy out at home.
decision gotten hurt ready single talked
We talked about it; they didn't make the decision on their own. I'm not going to be able to go (today), so if I'm not ready to go, it will only hurt the team. It's a day-to-day process. It's gotten better every single day.
expect mixed stuff
It was unbelievable. That's what we all expect him to be. He had a lot of giddy-up on his fastball. We mixed in his off-speed stuff after he established the fastball.
dukes night watch
Dukes of Hazzard. I watch it every night.
pain swelling
Everything is as expected. There's no pain, but we still have to get the swelling out so I can squat.
shock
I think he's going to have an unbelievable year. He's going to shock a lot of people.
basically days hoping normal obviously opening setbacks
I'm hoping to make Opening Day. They said basically 10 days would be a normal person, and I'm hoping to make it in seven. That's obviously if we have no setbacks or anything like that.
final forward looking playing reason
If we keep playing the way we are and keep winning, there is no reason to think we will not be up over .500 by the end of the season. We are really looking forward to this final month.
bay fact hitter jason position score scoring second surprised trying
I was surprised to see Sanchez trying to steal, especially because of the score (3-2), the fact he already was in scoring position at second and they had their No. 1 hitter in Jason Bay at the plate.
almost dealing full pain range swelling trying
Basically, all of the pain and everything is gone. It's just dealing with the swelling and trying to get it out of there from the surgery. The only thing that the swelling hinders is just range of motion. As of right now, I almost have full range of motion.
pitching wins
It's pitching and defense. That's what wins games.
bunch needed runs
It just got away from us in two innings. They scored a bunch of runs and scored some runs when they needed them.
business care casey consider game leader
I try to play the game the right way, or the old way, as I consider it. I'll just go and take care of business and try to be a leader like (Sean) Casey was.
