We believe there is a real shortage of treatment programs for people with mental health illness. To some degree, it is reflective of a very serious housing shortage problem in Lee County. For some of our people, homelessness has been an issue.

We have a high number of elder people. If you look at factors that contribute to suicide, you have isolation and depression. With older people, there tends to be more isolation and depression. They have often lost a spouse or family members.

I don't have any other concrete plans. When I got here seven years ago, it was with the idea of staying for three to five years. The agency was having financial troubles at the time. We were looking to build a new crisis center. Those were the two biggest challenges facing the organization, and I believe we have accomplished those goals.
