It's the start of the new year. We're coming off of a break - we haven't played since Dec. 10. So you want to start the new year off on a positive note, and I think a big goal for our team in the second half is to play better defensive hockey.

I thought we played hard. I thought that maybe we had a few mistakes in the first period. I thought the second period was outstanding. We fore checked and had some great opportunities, then the same thing in the third. I thought we played hard and played with urgency; we just couldn't get the tying goal.

We changed our power play today. We went with something totally new and they executed it well - we didn't even have a chance to practice it.

I think going to Mankato this weekend, we have to play 120 minutes. We're going to have to play disciplined and we're going to have to do the little things well. I think if we do that, obviously as coaches and players we'll be pleased, and I think we'll end up seeing the results we want to see.

I feel like the message we want to send is that we're going to be moving up the standings board. Going into Wisconsin and playing 120 minutes of solid hockey is our goal. We want to go out and get some league points this weekend.

This weekend we have to compete hard in our games with Minnesota, and go for it. We're on home ice for the next six games and we want to take advantage of that.
