anger belong chip focused game mad throwing
It was a big game for me to show myself that I belong here. I was pretty mad today. I pitched with a chip on my shoulder. When they got hits, it was making me mad. ... I focused that anger on throwing strikes.
carpenter chris faced last win
I faced Chris Carpenter in my last start, and he's probably going to win the Cy Young Award, so it didn't faze me at all.
beat couple good swagger
I feel good right now. I'm getting my swagger back. ... That's very important, because if I don't have it, I'll get beat around like I did the first couple of games.
coach gets messes pitching somebody takes time until wait
He takes his time with everybody, does everything a pitching coach should do. If you're doing something wrong, he'll wait until you're done or wait until after the game, and he'll tell you. That's what you want. You don't want to tell somebody while they're in the game, that messes them up and gets them off track.
asked baseball excited high level playing struggled team
I'm just excited for my team. To get my team on a high level of playing baseball right now. We struggled of late. I couldn't have asked for a better outing. It was really good.
baseball car care drive fancy political stuff typical worry wrapped
I'm not the typical ballplayer. I don't drive a fancy car like a lot of guys. I don't get wrapped up in a lot of stuff. I just like to play baseball and win. That's what I care about. The other stuff is political stuff and I don't worry about it.
chip good shoulder worked
I pitched with a chip on my shoulder and it actually worked out good for me.
game major pitcher rise tape type watched
I watched the tape of that game a lot over the winter. I know that's the type of pitcher I can be in the major leagues. A game like that makes you feel that you can rise to any challenge.
bullpen game hoping score team throw trying
I was just trying to keep my team in the game. I wanted to throw five, at least, and get the game to the bullpen. I was hoping we could score some runs, so that the bullpen could do (its) job.
bad bully dad fun needed people swagger talking
I was kind of angry. People think they can come in here and bully us, and they're talking bad about the team. My dad called me and said they were making fun of us on TV. I didn't like that. I needed to go out there and get my swagger back.
kept lose slap squeezed turn
I thought I was getting squeezed a little bit. I wanted to lose control, but I just kept my composure. I'd just turn around and slap my thigh.
arm carry good group hopefully maybe problems
Maybe that's a good thing for us. Having a young group of guys, hopefully we won't have any arm problems and we can carry the team.
clue felt great mixing
I was mixing in all my pitches. They had no clue what was coming. I felt great out there.
minor prove time won
I think it's time for me to get a major-league job. I really don't know what else I have to prove in the minor leagues. I've won at every level. I've done everything I can do.
