I have always thought it would be a blessing if each person could be blind and deaf for a few days during his early adult life. Darkness would make him appreciate sight; silence would teach him the joys of sound.
As selfishness and complaint pervert and cloud the mind, so love with its joy clears and sharpens the vision

Joy is a spiritual element that gives vicissitudes unity and significance.
Joy is the holy fire that keeps our purpose warm and our intelligence aglow.
Certainly it is one of our sweetest experiences that when we are touched by some noble affection or pure joy, we remember the dead most tenderly, and feel more powerfully drawn to them.
I have made my limitations tools of learning and true joy.
The hands of those I meet are dumbly eloquent to me. The touch of some hands is an impertinence. I have met people so empty of joy, that when I clasped their frosty finger-tips, it seemed as if I were shaking hands with a northeast storm.
The joy of surmounting obstacles that once seemed unremovable and pushing the frontier of accomplishment further-what other joy is there like it?
As selfishness and complaint pervert the mind, so love with its joy clears and sharpens the vision.
The living word awakened my soul, gave it light, hope, joy, set it free!
It is better to be happy for a moment and be burned up with beauty than to live a long time and be bored all the while.
True happiness...is not attained through self-gratification, but through fidelity to a worthy purpose.
I don't want peace that passeth understanding, I want understanding which bringeth peace.
