acres compared course faster improved last minute placing ran rolling runners second seven six women year
The women had an outstanding day in placing second at the McPherson Invitational on a windy day. Six out of seven runners improved their times from last week's meet. Overall, the women ran about a minute faster on the Rolling Acres course compared to a year ago.
comparable comparing course easier four groups guys hard kids last later looked looking meet month next ran roe run running second several stick teammate three week women worked
Overall, we ran really well. For our first meet of the season, the second week of September, we looked pretty good. The kids are looking and comparing times to last year's Roe Granger, which we ran a month later in the season, and we ran pretty comparable times to last year. Our guys really ran well together. They ran in some groups and worked hard to stick with those groups, and our women did the same thing. Several times on the course we had groups of three or four all together. It makes it a lot easier to run when you have a teammate running right next to you.
giving hurt second shots
I thought that was the big difference. We did a lot of things right defensively, but giving up second shots hurt us.
ability control dates gives instead opportunity parking revenue secondary sell signature
It gives us the ability to control all the revenue streams, ... It gives us the opportunity to sell a naming-rights sponsorship and signature sponsorships and control of our concessions, parking and scheduling, which is an important part of it. Instead of scrambling for secondary dates, we control the dates in the stadium.
best curb door few knock laughs maybe pick pull seconds ten
Chuckie: Oh, I don't know that. Let me tell you what I do know. Every day I come by to pick you up. And we go out we have a few drinks, and a few laughs and it's great. But you know what the best part of my day is? It's for about ten seconds from when I pull up to the curb to when I get to your door. Because I think maybe I'll get up there and I'll knock on the door and you won't be there. No goodbye, no see you later, no nothin'. Just left. I don't know much, but I know that.
against bad gets glad half kids playing realized second sure team tough win
I'm not sure that was a bad thing for us. I'm glad we got the win, because you can't use ineligible players. But at the same time, I'm glad our kids realized they're not invincible. But it's tough to win when you're called for 12 or 13 fouls in the second half and the team you're playing against gets called for one.
country cross definitely meet previous record runner runners school seconds track
He's (Van Veen) always been a better track runner than a cross country runner. Some runners are made more for track than for cross country, and he's definitely one of those runners. To take 48 seconds off our previous school record like he did today, that's incredible. Especially considering that he did it at a meet like this.
happy stood win
We just stood around and watched. I'm happy we got the win but I'm disappointed with the effort.
glad law low prepared
We were prepared for the worst. We are very glad it has been so peaceful, law abiding and low key.
easily paying people
We were paying other people to do things we could easily do ourselves,
teams
We have to do something that 32 teams can live with.
control credit
We had things under control, but it slipped away. Credit Plano, they executed down the stretch.
chance conference confident goal heading win
We are very confident heading into conference. We have a goal to win conference and we feel we have a chance to do that.
committed goal january seeing team win
We're going to Tulsa to win it all. That's the goal that this team set in January and we're committed to seeing it through.
