We're by far the top rookie team in the series. We've surprised a lot of people with our performance this season, and we still have a shot at the team title mathematically. Robert is just 21 points back in the driver standings, so with four rounds remaining a lot could happen.

We came out early and scored some runs. But we didn't get totally focused until the fourth inning. For a little while, we acted like we were satisfied with just two runs. We started picking better pitches to swing at. We got better hits and, consequently, we got more runs.

We were three players down, and it was our third game in three days. We didn't have the depth to compete with them. Of our eight eligible players, four were freshmen and one was a sophomore. It was a difficult game - but we should have competed better. We just couldn't match their size or quickness, and that was the game.

It should be looked at as a 26-school league rather than four separate divisions. People get just locked up in that. It's really going to solidify high school sports in the area.

Overall, we ran really well. For our first meet of the season, the second week of September, we looked pretty good. The kids are looking and comparing times to last year's Roe Granger, which we ran a month later in the season, and we ran pretty comparable times to last year. Our guys really ran well together. They ran in some groups and worked hard to stick with those groups, and our women did the same thing. Several times on the course we had groups of three or four all together. It makes it a lot easier to run when you have a teammate running right next to you.

Our running game was big. The last couple weeks were rocky, but we were focused and we played four quarters.

That doesn't show how good they really are. I don't know how they lost four games. When they come to play, I think they can play with anybody.

Matt, Jeff, Kyle and Kevin are the four returning runners from the 2004 squad and their maturity showed. Experience is so vital to a team's success.

Andrea Courtney is a freshman and has been playing No. 1 all year. She's an All-Conference player, but playing No. 1 as a freshman is not easy. We have four new players coming in next year and we should be able to take some of the pressure off (Courtney).

The distance runners are running really well right now. Overall, it was just a fantastic weekend for us. Out of the five events we competed in, we had four personal bests, two school records and a provisional national qualifying mark. The real reason we came here was to run fast and throw far, and we did that this weekend.

We just stood around and watched. I'm happy we got the win but I'm disappointed with the effort.
