adds episodes happens knock trying
Knock on wood, we'll do enough episodes to get through that list. But the other thing that happens on our show is Earl adds things. Just because he's trying to be a better person doesn't make him perfect.
balance definitely drafts looked scripts starts
We try not to have too much. I've looked at first drafts of scripts where there's too much, and then I've looked at first drafts of scripts where it's too little and it starts to not feel like our show. So there's definitely a balance you try to find.
beginning fan interested list name next potential
I've always been a big fan of Jason's and you get a list (of potential leads) at the beginning of all this and next to Jason's name it said, 'Not interested in TV,'
came credit decided felt job lunch morning nbc nice people script woke
I still felt it was a series, so I woke up every morning at 4:30 before I went to my other job and I wrote. (Eventually) I kind of thought it was over. We take the perspective that the episode has already happened to him and he's sitting back reflecting on it, ... he understands the stuff he's done is wrong.

bed believing control good morning network night people proud question repeat terrified trouble wake
When I say that to people, they repeat the question -- they have trouble believing it. What I wake up every morning terrified of and go to bed at night terrified of is not being able to do a good show. Once I give the show to the network and I'm proud of it, I really don't have that nervousness of 'Are people going to watch; are they not going to watch?' I can't control that.
camden chat city county fictional hour maryland named names outside rooms town united using western
It's a fictional town. I named Camden County after my son. It could be an hour outside any city in the United States. I've read on chat rooms that I've been using some town names from western Maryland where I went to college.
bar happen seeing somewhere telling
We use (narration) as he's just telling us a story. He could be in a bar somewhere telling the story to somebody. We just happen to be seeing it.
excited high ignore nbc stakes
You can't ignore that the stakes are high for NBC for this show. They're excited because they need something to work.
characters funny invested laugh moments next people talk week
We try to find big, funny moments that are going to make people laugh and talk about the next day, but if we can get people emotionally invested in these characters as well, (they're) going to want to come back week after week,
football game half high school second until wait
He would wait until the second half of the high school football game so he could go in for free.
comedy feeling funny good journey people thinking walk watched
If you can walk away from a comedy thinking it was funny yet also feeling good about the people you watched and the journey they went on, then all the better.
silly kids funny-things
That's the funny thing about havin' a kid. They come with their own set of problems; make everything else you were worried about seem kinda silly.
