australia credit cricket days nine test took win
What's disappointing is that we had opportunities to win the game. But their batsmen made the most of their opportunities and credit to them. It took nine days of Test cricket for someone to really win a day. And that was yesterday, which Australia won.
pressure test
If anything, they (Australia) have been under more pressure than us going into this test match.
decision felt fitness last passed test
He's come through really well in the last two days. He's felt nothing, he's passed his fitness test and we'll make a decision tonight.
came control expecting papers pressure test verbal
We came out here expecting a lot of verbal in the papers and things being said. If anything they have been under more pressure than us going into this test match. We have just got on with what we have been doing. We have been very focussed on the things we have been able to control which is our preparation.
beat believed cases coming drive guys home number pressure series test
Coming out of the Test series, a lot of the guys who were here believed going back home we could beat them. We didn't take our chances. We had them under pressure on a number of cases in the Test series and just didn't drive it home.
australia compares cricket greatest match matches repeat struggle test tied west
Incredible. We'd struggle to repeat a match like that. I think it compares with the tied Test between Australia and the West Indies at Adelaide as one of the greatest matches in cricket history.
foot increase injury left series team test time watching
His foot flares up from time to time, and with the Test series just around the corner, we don't want to do anything to make his injury worse. His workload will increase in the Tests, so we are watching him carefully. He may be left out of the team for tomorrow's match.
players rest
The players really long for a rest of only 10 days.
backed batting chunk gone order ourselves top twice
We thought after having gone through their top order twice in Centurion and with the moisture in the wicket here, we backed ourselves to get a big chunk in their batting order.
difficult doubt tour
This tour was without doubt the most difficult one of my life.
backed batting bowlers chunk created gamble hours paid three
We backed our bowlers to take a big chunk out of their batting order, and in the first two or three hours we created a lot of chances. But I would have to say the gamble hasn't paid off.
advice decision decisions doubts good hard maybe offering pressure puts undermines
I don't think he undermines his effectiveness but I think he puts him under a lot of pressure when it comes to decision making and maybe he doubts his own decisions sometimes because Shane is offering so much advice all the time. It's hard to sift through what is good and what is not good, at times.
best performance team
This was probably the best team performance in one-day internationals under my captaincy,
win
What's disappointing is that we had opportunities to win the game.
