One of the reasons for having two engines is so you can have two almost totally independent systems -- separate fuel feeds, separate ignition systems -- just as kind of a backup, ... So the chances of two of them failing simultaneously makes us very curious about the cause.

Last November, an engine was removed from another airplane (and was) put through some degree of maintenance at Delta. This had to do with an oil leak on the front bearing, which is at the very front end of the engine.
