Gary Pattersonis an American football coach and former player. He is currently the head football coach at Texas Christian University. Patterson has led the TCU Horned Frogs to six conference championships—the Conference USA title in 2002, four Mountain West Conference titles, and Big 12 Conference co-championship in 2014—and eight bowl game wins including a victory in the 2011 Rose Bowl. It was a great win for the program, but now it's time to move on. I'm very happy for TCU, the alumni and the players. It's been a lot of fun, but now it's back to work.

We have received questions from players all over the West Utah, California, Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico since the move was announced. We understand how good the competition is, that we're going to places like BYU to play in front of 60,000 instead of some places in Conference USA to play in front of 6,000. Bigger stadiums. A stronger league. Stronger nonconference scheduling. It's all a big difference for us and yet our kids are very excited.

BYU plays great defense and we'll have to find a way to take the ball game, ... That's how you win in conference on the road. They've moved the football this year and had penalties and turnovers when they got into the red zone. You have to create lost yardage plays to stop them. You have to take the fight to them and not play on your heels.

We feel very fortunate and are very happy to be 1-0. I don't think many people gave us a chance to be 1-0. But you lose everything you gained winning against an Oklahoma if you go and get beat by SMU.

For me, this will probably be the biggest win as a head coach for this program. You've got to know everybody will have ups and downs. This is real important. These are all my kids now that I've recruited. It's good to see them play hard and play in that kind of arena.
