I presume that you are compassionate: to be without pity means to be sick in body and spirit. But one should have spirit in abundance, so as to be permitted to be compassionate! For your pity is detrimental to you and to everyone.
A friend should be a master at guessing and keeping still: you must not want to see everything.
We should be a mirror of being: we are God in miniature.
What does your conscience say? — 'You should become the person you are'.
You say that I should be your teacher! See to it that I am your pinion and not your brake.
One should steal only where one cannot rob.
The people we have employed in an undertaking that has turned out badly should be doubly rewarded.
Beggars should be entirely abolished! Truly, it is annoying to give to them and annoying not to give to them.
One should never know too precisely whom one has married

Compassion for the friend should conceal itself under a hard shell.
He who cannot command himself should obey. And many can command themselves, but much is still lacking before they can obey themselves.
Our vanity desires that what we do best should be considered what is hardest for us.
Go up close to your friend, but do not go over to him! We should also respect the enemy in our friend.
