kids
That's been our luck. But these kids are resilient.
ball breaking changed curve early hack settled throw throwing
(Mora) didn't throw the breaking ball early (for a strike). Once he settled down and started throwing the curve on the first pitch, they couldn't get up there and hack at the first-pitch fastball. That changed the game.
count seems shame
It seems a shame that all that will count from this is the stats.
ask thrown
It's nobody's fault. Sometimes you just get thrown a curve. But it's a lot to ask of our pitchers.
asked assistants coach decided february four freshmen good happy players program record rest season seniors somewhere stick
If you had asked me in February what our record would be today, I'd have said 5-5 -- somewhere in there -- and been happy about it. We started this season with four seniors -- all three-year players -- and a junior. The rest are all freshmen and sophomores. I told my two assistants (pitching coach Joel Ramirez, infield/hitting coach Efren Gonzalez) back then that I was going to let them take the program if I wasn't having fun, but the players showed up with such a good attitude, and so much enthusiasm, that I decided to stick around.
