Lanfranco "Frankie" Dettori, MBEis an Italian horse racing jockey in the United Kingdom. Dettori has been Champion Jockey on three occasions and has ridden the winners of more than 500 Group races. His most celebrated achievement was riding all seven winners on British Champions' Day at Ascot in 1996. He is the son of the jockey Gianfranco Dettori, who was a prolific winner in Italy. There are mixed emotions about this because usually I am riding for Sheikh Mohammed in this race, ... I have to thank him for letting me ride. It feels a little peculiar that I won this for the main opposition, but that's the way things have gone this year.

I was very worried around the turn, because the horse had been coming off the bridle and I had to keep asking him. But when we turned into the stretch I kept after him and he found a few more gears.

He's having his first run for us and it will also be his first run on the dirt. It will be interesting to see how he will do.

He will be much better on good ground. He is still very green. It's hard to judge tactics on this ground. I tried to quicken it up all the way round and always felt that if somebody had come at me he'd have found a little bit more.

He could win it and go on why not? He's done nothing wrong. He just lacks experience. He's got to tackle the big boys sooner or later, so Saturday should be a good test for him.

He got into a nice rhythm, and when we came into the straight he galloped on strongly. This is only the beginning for this horse.

I just had to find my spot. When I got him outside, I knew he would do it. He has a lot of heart. From the No. 1 draw to give away two lengths to everybody ... what a great horse.

I didn't know I was going to win it until the last 20 yards or so because I couldn't shake Brass Hat off. He kept coming back.
