football good happens prove start thinking week
That's what happens when you start thinking everything's OK, that 'hey, we're a good football team,' ... We were then and we are now. You've got to prove it every week. Certainly, this week we're going to be challenged.
improvement week
Marcus has been consistently getting better. Every week you see a little improvement.
advantage believe challenge football good last needs second situation state team week
I think the challenge for us this week is are we a better football team than we were last week? As many good things as we did in the N.C. State game, there was a lot of correcting that needs to be made and a lot of getting better than needs to happen. I believe ... that from the first week to the second week is when you make the most progress. And we have to take advantage of that situation here.
against business coming heck next people proud ready stink talk week
We're getting ready to play Ohio. I don't think you talk about those. The players, that shouldn't even be an issue. I'm proud. I'm proud as heck of what people think of us and what's coming around, but I know this: In this business it's one week to the next, and if we go out there and stink it up against Ohio, (the media) will be writing about something else next week.
against backs bit depends exactly football great next nice people perform saying team trash wall week win
You kind of find out a lot about people when your backs are against the wall and people aren't saying nice things about you, people trash you a bit on TV, ... To come back and perform like we did against a great football team is a great win for the program. Exactly how big depends on what we do next week and the week after that.
virginia week virginia-tech
There are so many things going on this week, ... It's great for Virginia Tech.
answers calmness certainly guy issue key protect respond tight
When you know who it is, you kind of want to protect him. For getting a feel for who the guy is overall, how he is going to respond to pressure, we have to let him go live. The guy who has poise, a calmness about him when things get tight . . . that certainly is a key, key issue for us right now and we need to get as many answers as we can.
good guy smart surprise
There have been some things that he would like to have back, but it doesn't surprise me that he's had a good year. He's a smart guy and understands. I think Marcus is just a player. It's in his genes.
absolutely affect against control needs
There is absolutely nothing we can do to control that or affect that other than go play well against Maryland, ... That needs to be our approach.
drop guy jeff king last remember saw smart solid time trust
I don't remember the last time I saw Jeff King drop a ball. He's a smart guy who is just solid in every area. He's a guy who you can trust to get things done right.
great leader played team tonight
Vick was a great team leader tonight and played with poise.
everybody fit leadership pointing respect team teams
Every team is different, some teams fit better than others. I think the leadership on this team has been very good, pointing everybody in the same direction. They respect each other.
bud consistent exactly
You better be exactly what you are and be consistent with it. And that's what Bud does.
great happens helmet history saturday tight
You can look at the history and there have been some great games, some great players, but I don't think that has anything to do with what happens Saturday night. It's just get your helmet on tight and let's go.
