Last year we had a team that everybody had a role. If it wasn't me and Shaq scoring, everybody was spotting up, hitting the jumper. The main thing is it just takes time to learn each other, learn the system.
Of course me and Shaq will be the main focus of the offense, ... That was successful for us last year and will continue to be successful for us, hopefully.
Maybe he'll dominate more next year than he did this year. ... Hopefully, we won't have this feeling again. Maybe we'll have a feeling of enjoyment after our last game.
I want more, ... If you go out and search for those things, you got to be willing to take what comes with it. I'm going to be more busy this year than I have been in the past, but at the same time, I understand that none of those things come if wasn't for basketball.
We know we can win. That's what we're all here for. . . . This is my third year here and it's like it's my third different team, but we can win.
You know, 10 years ago I never thought I'd be in this position. It's a dream and I don't even know if I dreamed this big.
The biggest thing, and what I told some of the partners in the summit, was me thanking them for their constant support with everything that I've been through the last couple years on and off the court.
Our goal is to be the best team in the NBA at the end of the year.
Of course you're surprised after the season we had, a heartbeat away from the finals. But you know, Pat Riley seemed to change. He seemed to change from the year before when we were excited about our young team, and it did us good ? so I'm sure this will do us good also.
Last year, he just lost weight. And I think at the end of the year that kind of took a toll on him because he didn't have that strength that he used to, to fall back on. ... Shaq is motivated to do something better and help the team.
Last year my heart was racing up until the point I got picked. This year I was more confident that after a good year people would recognize me as an All-Star. But getting the nod and being a starter, that means so much.
He's a lot stronger. Last year he lost weight and I think that took a toll on him at the end of the year because he didn't have the strength to fall back on.
That means we are having a good year with a lot of games left. We want to continue to get better and stay healthy down the stretch.
When a guy's 6-8, raises as high as he does and fades on his shot, you just try to do the best that you can to put a hand in his face. He made big shots for them.
