There are a number of programs in place to encourage developers, and I don't support that. If free-market forces bring developers to want to invest because they see that they can get a proper return on their investment, great. But we shouldn't be spending tax dollars to that end.

The question for me with TV was a question of money. I guess if I had lots, I might have done it. But this isn't a big-money campaign, as far as I'm concerned. I've limited myself to direct mail and newspaper ads.

I can see the benefits of going to a sort of mixed system - where a majority or almost a majority of council is at large, but it is easier for people to start the process of running for council if they only have to run in their ward, and they can handle it all by just walking around and talking to their neighbors and knocking on doors. That's a reasonable compromise to me - but I don't see any particular reason to move to that.
