The first nine holes, I played really well. I don't think I missed a fairway or green. I had some good momentum to build on.

This is my fourth year and two of those years I didn't get in a lot of events. It's hard to get some momentum. Two years ago I was fully exempt and this year I'm fully exempt, so maybe just being more comfortable and getting to know the courses and being able to know that I'm in tournaments rather than looking and seeing if I get in.

The rough is very high, but the course is in very good shape. The weather was perfect, and guys are going to make birdies.

The wind is blowing hard so it's tough out there. You either hit a hard drive down right down the center or take it over the water and trust it. That's the part that the wind makes it tough, where you have to aim outside of the fairways and things and it changed the landing areas you're used to.

Maybe I realized I'm not that good coming from behind, so I have to try to sprint out and hold on.

More people have recognized me for that. It's died down now, I think. Anything that gets you recognized, I guess, is nice.

I felt like our top line was trying to score a picture-perfect goal, making five passes. The other lines just kept things simple.

We had something to prove. It wasn't about winning it was about courage, and working hard.

It was a bit discouraging (Thursday), but I knew it was the first round and there's a lot of holes to go. So, for some reason, I was still calm. There are a couple of holes here that can jump up and bite you. You've just got to try to learn how to stay a little more patient and not get ahead of yourself.

I've got to figure it out, how to get it done on the weekend. I know the courses are going to be harder, so I need to play better.
