God has clearly called and gifted some people in the church to teach his Word formally.
The church is not an audience of spectators; we are a fellowship of disciple-makers
Consider what it takes for successful businessmen and businesswomen, effective entrepreneurs and hardworking associates, shrewd retirees and idealistic students to combine forces with a creative pastor to grow a "successful church" today. Clearly, it doesn't require the power of God to draw a crowd in our culture. A few key elements that we can manufacture will suffice.
Satan's strategies to stop the church will ultimately serve to spread the church. And Satan's strategies to inflict earthly pain in your life will ultimately serve to increase eternal glory with your God; 'Light momentary affliction.'
Saturate your preaching with the gospel in the church, so that you people speak gospel in the world.
We live in a church culture that has a dangerous tendency to disconnect the grace of God from the glory of God.
The church I lead could have the least gifted people, the least talented people, the fewest leaders, and the least money, and this church under the power of the Holy Spirit could still shake the nations for his glory.
A materialistic world will not be won to Christ by a materialistic church.

But accounts are a nightmare because you are not parting with the cash out of your wallet and therefore you don't miss it immediately. The amounts being talked about are hellish ones but then players earn a hellish amount of money. But before we all start to condemn the players, we must also take account of the time frame involved as well.
That is relinquishing control in a culture that prioritizes control and doing what you need to do in order to advance yourself.
Believing in the Jesus of the Bible makes life risky on a lot of levels because it is absolute surrender of every decision we make, every dollar we spend, our lives belong to another.
