David Gene Pearsonis a former American stock car racer from Spartanburg, South Carolina. Pearson began his NASCAR career in 1960 and ended his first season by winning the 1960 NASCAR Rookie of the Year award. He won three championshipsevery year he ran the full schedule in NASCAR's Grand National Series. Visiting the tour center has been especially rewarding for me and my staff. The visit provided practical information on how to better address the diverse needs of our client families. There has been a growing desire on the part of families to add personal touches to funerals. This exhibit has helped me understand how to do this to create more meaningful funerals.

The qualifying went from two laps to three laps and then to four laps, stuff like that, hoping I'd mess up one lap and not get it, ... Then, they changed the track, took that hump out of (Turns) 3 and 4. Humpy said, 'I've got you now.' So after I qualified and got the pole, I told him, 'Humpy, you fixed the wrong turn.' And he did.
From what I've seen, Newman is a talented race car driver and knows how to go fast, ... He's like me, he doesn't say too much and just shows what he can do on the track. That's the way I was and the way the Woods liked doing it. We let the success we had on the race track speak for us.
Those stores will be in transition over a four-week period. It takes a lot to get these things done.
We just worked hard at it, ... They had the car set up on the edge. If something had happened and I had to hit the brakes, I wouldn't have had any. They were pushing everything to the limit, using special grease in the wheel bearings and things like that - stuff you wouldn't really need today, but you did then.

It was probably a lot harder doing it on our own.
