I've never been uncomfortable putting my heart on display, my feelings on display, certainly with an audience.
It doesn't mean there aren't other contributing factors, the investigation is not finished yet. There may be other elements.
I think I'm putting on the best shows I've ever done vocally and physically in my presentation,
Most live albums aren't live, parts of them are, but I've always felt it was because bands hadn't attended to writing songs enough.
I remember when I was a teenager, the epitome of success for us was Top of the Pops in those days, because we really had no idea.
The other thing that was very noticeable on that tour, not so much in the video, was the new young element that were coming to our shows... I started to see some very young people in the audience... maybe 14, 15, 16 years old.
With all the highs and lows I've had in my life, I wouldn't change anything. So no, I don't, this is what I'm supposed to be doing.
I would hope it's better, but I'm actually acknowledging now that I want to explore all these levels from a whisper to a scream with this gift I've been given.
I'm embracing new technology to record my songs, and it's a wonderful way to interact with people who love Whitesnake and help spread the gospel of the 'Snake, and I'm having fun doing it.
Also I haven't really heard that much criticism about my voice. Sitting here at the end of 30 years, I must be doing something right.
It's as if everyone has been waiting for something new from the band...I'm thrilled with the response to the DVD...It's been overwhelmingly positive & sets us up for the next move...
Amateurs in professional situations make me very impatient.
Whitesnake more than most rock bands would get a very significant percentage of women in the audience and those were the ones I'd hear the voices because from where I am on stage is a pretty good spot.
The audience will make you feel like a demigod. But when you leave the stage, get back to being human.
