certainly chance factor fatigue great hung marty ourselves
Fatigue was certainly a factor tonight, but we hung around and got ourselves a chance to win. Marty was great tonight.
chance expect expects marty responsibility role top whether win
Marty will play tomorrow. We expect Marty to be a top goaltender every night. Whether he expects it or not, that's the role we put him in, and he has to take that responsibility and give us a chance to win every night.
focused marty past rest year
Marty has been focused all year on the future. This year, he's in a groove. He's just like the rest of us. The past is the past, and he's going to do what he's done for us and play well.
climb five hard marty matter obstacle slice
It doesn't matter if it's Marty (Turco) or the defense. No matter how you slice it, when you give up five goals, that's a hard obstacle to climb over.
five marty whether win
Whether it's Marty or the team, you can't win if you give up five in the playoffs.
marty needs saves win
We need Marty to make some more saves for us. We've got to find a way to win and he needs to be a big part of it.
couple excellent fortunate found marty saves ways win
We were fortunate to win in a shootout. Marty was excellent and he made some big saves for us, and we found a couple of ways to score.
bad clean force marty neutral zone
It made them rework their plan. He's just so good. If we can clog up the neutral zone and force them into bad dumps, Marty will clean up a lot of that.
asking average bad chance expect goals good marty mistakes responsibility team
Are they bad mistakes by the goalie? No. But are they goals that we expect Marty to stop? Yes. And that's the difference. We can be an average or below-average goalie and just wallow along, or we can we be a really good one and give our team a chance to win, and that's the responsibility we need Marty to take. And he's done it in the past, so it's not as if we're asking for something that we don't know is there.
credit defensive deserves dictates equation front good great guy last line marty numbers performance played team time year
I thought our team played a very good team defensive game. Hatcher had a great year and we played very well in front of Marty, but you can't get numbers like that without having an unbelievable performance from your goaltender. Marty deserves a lot of credit for that. He's the guy who a lot of time dictates a lot of the equation as the last line of defense.
answered good guys marty
Our big guys answered the bell, Marty included, and that's a good sign.
follow good grind hit people plays puck seemed
The puck seemed to follow him around. He was always on the puck and making good plays. He's not going to hit a lot of people or grind you up. But he makes good plays under pressure.
good nice period rewarded team third together wrapped
We got rewarded for the good things we've been doing. It was nice to see the team come together a little bit. The third period kind of wrapped it all up.
against decent good halfway incentive playoffs pushed pushing ways win
I've thought about that before. If we had just been halfway decent against L.A., we probably would have pushed it a little farther. But this is good incentive for us right now. One of the ways to make the playoffs is to win your division, and that was something we set out to do right from the start. We've got to keep pushing in that direction.
