beat fortunate good shot
We just shot it better than they did. They're a good team, and I feel awfully fortunate to beat them twice.
good hold job shots sure time
Of the 15 shots he took, I'm not sure how many of them were good looks. We did a good job contesting his shots. Any time you hold him under 10 points, you have a good shot to win.
chance decent knew
We wanted him to play. We thought we had a chance to have a decent team, and we knew he was a big part of it.
brian business job kansas next obviously opportunity ready realize state step time
Brian has been ready for this opportunity for a long time. He's always done an outstanding job for me at Creighton, Kansas State and Marshall. Obviously I'd like to keep him with me, but in this business you realize that everyone's time comes to step up to that next level, and I really think it's time for Brian.
games knowing ncaa noses point program
We're disappointed we're not in the NCAA tournament, knowing that one or two games was the difference. That really makes you disappointed. But our program will never be at the point where we can look our noses down at the NIT.
balance gone good great six sure teams
We've gone through years where we've had really good teams at the top, but I'm not sure we've had a balance of six teams like this year. I'm not sure we have one great team, but we have six really good teams.
crowd game third won
That's probably the third game they've won for us this year. The crowd wouldn't let us quit.
deserve good hard last league month number playing six teams
It's hard to say a month out what your league deserves, but we've got six teams playing pretty good basketball. This last month is going to be interesting for our league like it is for all leagues, but when it's all said and done, we'll have a number of teams that deserve attention.
free missed throw
It's been one of those years where it comes down to a missed free throw or a missed rebound. Everything was so close.
finish found game stay tough
It's a tough way to end the season. We found a way to stay in the game ... we just didn't finish it.
few games hump last won
They've won a lot of games in a lot of different ways. Buzzer-beaters, last-second shots. We've had our chances, we just haven't been able to get over the hump the last few years.
early few focus games line lost talk talking team weeks won
We've won some games we shouldn't. We probably lost some games we should've won. We just need to focus on getting better. If a few weeks down the line we're still in the hunt, we can talk about it later. But it's too early for our team to be talking about anything like that.
basketball difference gap larger neutral opportunity perceives played public schools smaller
When we have an opportunity to play the larger schools, they see the difference is just not there. Basketball is a home-and-road sport and, traditionally, the big schools have always played at home. Now when the smaller schools get them on a neutral court, the gap is not what the public perceives it to be.
We have no complaints. We had our opportunities, we just didn't get it done.
