You have to make some tough decisions. We've been struggling for five weeks, and I just feel like we need to make a change. I told Doug I feel badly. Everybody on offense should, because he's the one who gets the blame for it.

When he came out of the tunnel in the pregame warm-ups, the response was unbelievable. I had been in the National Football League for 18 years at that time, and I had never seen anybody get booed that loudly in pregame warm-ups. It just didn't stop. It was the worst thing I had ever seen, the dangdest thing I've ever seen.

When you're that successful running the football, you don't change what you did. I would say that's probably the way we will go.

It was tough because they were booing when we were in the huddle and guys had difficulty hearing. And, to add to that, John had to get the plays off without taking penalties. Like I said, I didn't prepare him because I had no idea it would be like that.

It was unbelievable. I've never seen anything like it. It was brutal. It was the toughest situation anyone has ever been in.
