challenge guys nice ran respond situation teams
It was a nice challenge for him to be able to respond to that. We aren't in the same situation that some other teams are in. We can challenge some guys and see how they respond. That's why we ran him back out (in the fifth).
accepted challenge dealing
We issued a challenge to him and he's accepted it. Now he's working through it and dealing with it -- and doing very well.
challenges command couple good handled pitches strike zone
I thought he handled a couple of challenges very well. I thought his first 10 pitches were up a bit, and then I thought he got pretty good command of the strike zone down.
across answer brought challenged looking man office
What would you do if you were manager, and you brought a man into the office and you challenged him across the board, and he answered? You're getting my answer by looking at the lineup.
accomplish adversity challenge regardless remember trying
Plus, to challenge him. We got to remember what we're trying to accomplish over here, regardless of what the other team's trying to accomplish. He had some adversity and I thought he bounced back pretty well through it all.
challenge good
It will be a good challenge for us.
answering ball challenged hit seen talk
You talk about being challenged and answering the challenge. He has hit the ball (recently) as well as I have ever seen him hit the ball.
baseball bottom challenged far grow handled leadership places production stretch year
As far as production goes, it's at the bottom of his baseball card. But as far as leadership and the way he's rallied the team, it's at the top. This year has challenged him in a lot of different areas, made him stretch and grow in a lot of places and I think he has handled it well.
create game moved tried
We tried to create some game situations, and he moved around pretty well.
angry asked coming complain maybe might mound realized ring seemed series surprised turned warming watch
What surprised me was when he went out to the mound with a watch on and was, like, surprised when we asked him to take it off. I thought maybe he got a World Series ring and a World Series watch, so that's why he seemed to be angry about that. There was a little glare coming off of it. We don't complain about much here, but at times when he turned his wrist, you could see a glare warming up. Obviously, it wasn't very expensive, the way he flung it into the dugout. Then I realized it might not have been a World Series watch.
acquire baggage carrying growing last players share
What's unfortunate is the baggage the new players are carrying around. Of course, we acquire our share of it last year, but we'd like to think we are growing from that.
handle maybe might next players rookies year
We might not have any rookies next year, or maybe one or two. We've had the young players we wanted to look at this year show us they can handle the challenge.
maybe might next rookies
We might not have any rookies next year, or maybe one or two,
beauty chance everybody finally took
We tweaked the lineup a little and everybody who got a chance jumped in and took advantage. We finally got out of that hitters' graveyard, Coors Field. That's the beauty of this game. You don't know what to expect.
