Cindy Lee Miller Sheehanis an American anti-war activist, whose son, U.S. Army Specialist Casey Sheehan, was killed by enemy action during the Iraq War. Shame on you, ... How many more of other people's children are you willing to sacrifice?
I loved and protected my own children like a fierce mama bear, but one of them died anyway. It was a dark day when I realized that part of my responsibility in Casey's death was that I did not love all the children of the world in that same real, not abstract, way.
We're going to do what we do all the time: gather together in peace. We're going to call for George Bush and the neo-cons not to invade Iran. That would be a mistake even worse than Iraq. Our children are sitting ducks in the Middle East; the people of Iran and Iraq would be sitting ducks. And I'm not even sure that this invasion won't lead to World War III. So it's something that we have to stop before it starts.
I am tired of the warmakers making war with our children. I am tired of our tired troops being sent over to do the dirty work for mob bosses who are going to squeeze the life out of Iraq and not leave until every asset and every natural resource has been raped from the country. I am tired of seeing Iraqis burying their loved ones and hearing the reverberating screams of mothers all over our country who are being destroyed for the benefit of a very few.
I can't speak for the other people whose children have died, but I can speak for my family and the other members of Gold Star Families for Peace. We believe we're honoring our children by working for peace.
We mean business, George Bush, ... and we're going to go to Congress and we're going to ask them, 'How many more of other people's children are you willing to sacrifice for the lies' And we're going to say, Shame on you. Shame on you for giving him the authority to invade Iraq.

My children were the center of my life.
Every day is a new sense of tearing my heart out of my body again when I see other children who have been killed, and I know what their families are going through.
The people who are slamming me have no idea about what it feels like to unjustly have a child killed in an insane war.
As you can imagine, this is a devastating blow for my sister, my brother, my children and me.
We just had a terrible call. My mom had a stroke.
We chased him away from his ranch. We protest all over the country without him being in attendance, so I don't think it takes away (from this vigil) a bit because he never met with us anyway.
