awesome bar believe city developed fabulous high mentality state strength strong team terms truly university
Our team is as strong as any team around and he really developed an awesome mentality for our guys. He's set the bar really high for us in terms of our strength and conditioning. ... I truly believe we're going to get a fabulous, fabulous replacement because of Boise State University and the city of Boise.
chemistry coming earn few gets guys matter talent
We're going to have to go out there and earn it, though. We had a lot of guys coming back this year. It doesn't matter how few guys you lose, the chemistry always changes. Talent only gets you so far. Chemistry ... has to come with it.
age age-and-aging both certain challenge guys hesitation ready
I think the age thing is overrated. I think it is all about guys having certain experiences and if a guy is ready for this challenge and task. With both of our coordinators there wasn't a hesitation in my mind.
awesome coaches great guys keeps passed staff state
I think there's been some great coaches that have passed through the state and I think they just know how awesome it is in Boise, Idaho. When you have guys who want to be in a place real bad, I think that important. I think it keeps staff continuity.
across bring checkers guys jump looking rope stop whether
You can come across as a jerk. ... But that's the No. 1 characteristic we're looking for from guys on our field. Whether it's checkers or jump rope or football, to stop me you've got to bring everything you've got.
competition good health terms
We have to have two good quarterbacks, if not more, just in terms of health and if things don't go the way they should. Competition is good.
except four running seven teams tendency
We play a lot of people. That way not everyone has to know everything we're doing, except for the quarterback. He has to know everything. Some teams have a tendency to play three, four receivers. We'll play seven or eight. Some teams play one or two running backs. We'll play five.
growing pains summer tried
Those guys, they're having growing pains and that's to be expected. As much as we tried to get them in there in the summer and get them prepared, there's just nothing like being in a game. You just can't simulate that situation.
aggressive blow coach creating envelope hawkins problems push stuff worried
Nothing is off-limits. Coach Hawkins is very aggressive in his thinking. If you're always worried that something could blow up on you, you're not going to push the envelope and not going to try new things. Some of the stuff does blow up on us, but the tradeoff is the problems we're creating for defenses whenÊit works.
best coaches faster full players slow study understand
The best way to get better is to study yourself. Our players and our coaches are always studying. We have that attitude. When you study, you know what to do, and when you understand your assignment, you play faster because you don't have to slow down to make decisions. We like to play at full speed.
challenged good
That is something I'm always challenged with on the field. To be a good person even when it's not going like it should.
both fairly game knew needs step
They both know that that part of our game needs to step up. Anthony was, percentage-wise, fairly accurate, but we also knew not to put him in any questionable situations.
level physically
They were at a different level physically than we'd seen.
consistent guy happen last next reason step taking talked whatever year
We talked last year about him taking the next step there, and that didn't happen for whatever reason where we wanted him to. Did he get better? He did. He got better on occasion, but he wasn't the consistent guy that we needed.
