There are some guys we would have liked to have seen in the finals and a few others we would have liked to have been No. 1, but you take a look at the bracket and realize it was meant to be. You realize that next week is what a lot of these guys were looking to, and they wanted to make sure they got there.

Going into the state tournament, we're ranked fifth or so. Every guy's going to need to win a match, and more than a few need to be pretty high on that podium so that we can reach our team goals.

I know we wrapped up the No. 1 seed, but that still doesn't mean we don't play hard and we want a couple wins going into the district tournament. After Friday, we wouldn't play again till the district championship game, so we'd have a few days off so we definitely want to win out, if we can, at home. I mean, they're going to be two tough games back-to-back.

Bruce has come in and over the last three years, really changed what debate looks like. It really comes down to who is the adviser. ... If the adviser is good at what they do and promotes it and gets kids out, it thrives.
