The only thing I didn't like was that our freshman quarterbacks couldn't hit a receiver.
When you get down to your big games, it comes down to your defense.
When you fail to score when you get down there like we did, it might haunt you sometime. I'm sure that 'Well here we go again,' entered my mind.
We've got to figure out what our problems are. If we can get our quarterbacks ironed out, we've got a chance to be a pretty good team.
We will follow a regular-week's practice schedule, as if it were during the season.
We just haven't gotten control of a doggone ballgame early enough to get him the work that I'd like to give him,
We kind of got off to a bad start,
We're not maxed out. The best is still ahead of us.
We've come out trying to run the ball. The second ballgame (against I-AA the Citadel), we came out throwing because we thought we were superior and we could do what we wanted to. Now, when you're playing Syracuse and you're playing Miami and you're playing Boston College, you better do what's best. I felt like sooner or later, we're going to have to come out throwing the darn ball, and that's what our offensive staff wanted to do.

Weatherford has really gained from the first game of the year until the 13th game of the year. I coached against Joe when I was up at West Virginia and I saw those teams that dominate Eastern football. This team is as good as any of them and he hung in there with them.
Weatherford has a long way to go before getting over the hump, ... This game will be another dimension, because this is his first game on the road. These quarterbacks (Weatherford and Xavier Lee) are going to be good one of these days. But for now, they lack experience.
What (Penn State) has needed over the last couple years is someone who could break out a game. Now they've got that.
What Penn State has needed, evidently the last couple of years, is somebody who can break up a game.
