Obviously we would like to see those statistics higher. But this is a process that the NCAA member institutions are going through to change behavior and essentially ensure the student athletes, coaches and everyone involved in collegiate athletics understands that academic achievement and academic performance is just as important as athletic performance.

Certainly, the data is trending in the right direction. The increases for all African-American student athletes were between 15 and 18 percent, and that's good, but that doesn't mean the job's over. There's room for improvement, and we hope that institutions are able to continue that trend working upward.

There used to be a lot more of the mom-and-pop stores downtown. Now there are only a couple left. The downtown has really changed. People want to be able to park in front of the business they are going to; they don't want to park on the next block, especially our older customers.

It's difficult to comment without seeing what the exact language in the bill will be. But (the NCAA doesn't) think there's any other law like this out there.

It's interesting that in a nation of 1.2 billion people, we're talking about a labor shortage. It's important to realize that it's a relative situation.
