blasting credit despite matches opening people received short until won
Brandon hasn't received a lot of credit from many people around the state, despite now being a four-time champion. Until this year, he wasn't blasting and opening up on people. If you look at the matches he's had here this year, he's won in short matches.

I don't know why we were doing what we were doing. We should have scored in a bunch of positions, but we allowed the guy to get back to neutral with us because we weren't doing the things we were working in the room.

You have to win the district and regional Coach of the Year awards to get to here. It's nice to be recognized by the coaches you work with all year, but I'm where I'm at right now because of the strong support group I have in this program. One person doesn't do what we're doing, it takes a lot of dedicated people.

They came at us. I'm not very happy with our showing tonight. They have some tough young kids on their team, and they're going to be tough by districts -- they're just going to get better and better.

We brought 10 guys up here and thought we could place all of them. We're going to find out, because we have some tough matches coming through the back door (consolations).
coaches expect helped knows parents program pursue success
A big part of his success has been his parents' commitment. And so many coaches have had an impact. Brandon has helped us become the program that we are, and the program has helped him pursue his goals. He knows we expect the same out of him as anybody, and more, sometimes.
aggressive baker great jason keeps offensive tough
Jason Baker did a great job. I mean, that's a tough kid. He was more aggressive and offensive on his feet, and keeps getting better every time.

I think in some ways, we made the finals boring for some people. The kids just did a great job. ... Baker, he doesn't like to have to wrestle a girl. It just drives him nuts. He's just got to get beyond that and just finish that out, because he's been ahead of her every time.

He has helped kids become more committed and dedicated, just by his own commitment. I wish he was a little more vocal, and he is becoming more so, which comes with being a senior. He knows what he has to do to win, and the training that it takes. We have kids that see that and want to join up, and some who think it is cool, but aren't willing to sacrifice. As they mature, they start to add more to their training regimen. That is what separates elite athletes.

You've got to earn everything. Any time you put yourself in a winning position, you didn't get there by being lazy.

You know, Jimmy Martin's a good kid. He was an all-American back at nationals this last summer, and Josh Townsend's just a couple little adjustments away from winning that match And Miller's in there too.
