That was Pat's strategy. That way we will have him stay home the rest of the match.
We felt we needed to take a stand for doubles.
We expected a difficult match because the Belgians had the support of the public,
Fans want to see stars. They want to see Roddick because they know who he is. Now they'll start knowing who we are because they'll have seen us on the billboards and on TV.
There was a little bit of a relief to see the other guys come out.
There's so many good teams. This tennis is so even. I feel fortunate for every one of these we win. To put four in a row together, that seems pretty impossible.
That would have been like a for-sure title.
Massu and (Fernando) Gonzalez who like to stay back on the baseline. They serve and even stay back. Obviously, grass is the best situation for us; it puts them at a little bit of a disadvantage and we'd be hitting a lot of volleys and turn it into an aerial battle, which I think we could win.
We don't care who we beat, as long as we win a point.
I thought I was serving really well. I knew when I was getting my first serve in, I wasn't losing any points. I looked a little off on the match point.
But it was logical that we won and had the match been played in the United States, it would not have taken close to three hours but an hour and a half without doubt.
We got 80% of what we wanted. They're not going to eliminate doubles.
Unbelievable. I had nothing left in my body by the end of that match. It was so emotional. There was a lot of energy there, they were doing chest pumps, we were doing chest pumps.
We almost completed the anti-slam. That would have been a feat. So win or lose, it was gonna be amazing.
