People that know basketball recognize effort opportunities that a guy takes advantage of and he's done that every minute he's been on the floor. Here's a freshman that's come in an really chipped in on the glass, defensively, making good passes and playing with a lot of energy and kind of uplifting the team when he gets on the floor.

We played him similar to a lot of ways other teams have played him, or tried to. He's still 5-for-10 (shooting), he still gets in double figures, pretty close to a double-double. He's a good player. I was glad he got into foul trouble.

Over the years we've wanted to bring in high school people-not just players-but people who are interested in our team and our program that can't get tickets, they can't see us in the Kohl Center, so this is an opportunity, as well as our scrimmage on Oct. 30, the Red-White scrimmage, ... This doesn't replace that. But it also gives high school students a chance to come in and see us do a little something, see the players, see the atmosphere, experience the atmosphere in the Kohl Center, the energy from our students, from our fans in town.

I'm not making excuses or apologies for how this team played. Penn State is the only team as young as us in the (Big Ten Conference). We played in the NCAA tournament. We just got bumped and our guys earned our way here....I certainly liked the way they played.

We figure 7 p.m., people can get there of all ages, they get to the Kohl Center, they see us play some games and have some fun, ... When most people see us only during a game, where it's more intense, and they get a chance to see everybody, plus we get some students out there. We didn't move well, but when you do get a look you've got to make something happen. We had some drives to the basket where we shot some floaters - shots that I've never seen before. You can't get those back.
