best coach happened men remember stepping
You've got to remember what was being said about them in November, December, and into January. What's changed? OK, now what's happened is the coach is stepping down. But they can play. They can make shots. They've got one of the best big men in the country. What don't they have?
basic best men start successful
They're still young men who want to be successful and be a part of something that is successful. So I always start with that as the basic premise, ... And then you show them to the best of your ability.
definitely far guys honorable list means mention people radar screen top
Honorable mention means that there are people that feel that he's on the radar screen as far as the contributions. He made enough contributions to be on that list of the top 20 guys in the league. I would say Kam is definitely on that list.
influence leader means men might returning
Him being a leader returning means that he's going to influence other young men into having better years they might not have otherwise,
approach coach developing forward mental players season teacher
Highs, lows, it's all part of being a teacher and a coach, ... I look forward to every season with the same mental approach that I'm responsible for developing young men into being players and making them better.
against care ncaa players three tournament
I like it for these players who are working so hard, to take care of these three against NCAA Tournament teams.
bit maybe past staff talked training
Not that I've seen. Maybe every once in a while our training staff just talked to him a little bit to make sure, 'What are you feeling?' But they've done that in the past with other guys, too, that have had injuries.
against ball basket eat five happen knocked patience remember seconds shots struggling
The ball went in the basket and they were struggling at that point. We knocked some shots down and then we were a little more patient. Sometimes we have to remember it isn't all going to happen in five seconds. It can happen in 18 seconds on a possession. If you don't show some patience against Northwestern, they'll eat you up.
against banging game goes height inside speed
They've only been banging against each other, so I don't know yet. It's very important to have an inside presence. As the game goes on, speed fatigues, but height doesn't shrink.
bumped certainly earned excuses guys liked ncaa penn played state team ten
I'm not making excuses or apologies for how this team played. Penn State is the only team as young as us in the (Big Ten Conference). We played in the NCAA tournament. We just got bumped and our guys earned our way here....I certainly liked the way they played.
kids smile
I had to smile because if we're doing that at midnight, those kids aren't there,
eventually guys impose somebody wear
I like the way our guys are executing. Then sometimes if somebody is quicker, bigger, stronger, eventually they'll wear you down and they'll impose their will, especially on the road.
ask bashful corner far good mixing people perceived questions stand thinking willing
I've had that said to me a lot, that I'm good at working a room, ... There are people who have questions they want to ask me. If I stand in a corner somewhere, how is that perceived? That's perceived as me thinking I know everything. I don't know everything. Far from it. I'm willing to learn. That's why I'm not bashful about mixing with people.
good knew
Not at all. No way. We knew they were a good team.
