difference hit string time
We just didn't string anything together. They got a big hit at a big time and that was the difference in the ballgame.
hat played string tip together virginia
We just didn't string anything together offensively. There's was no consistency, but I tip my hat to Virginia Tech. They played well.
difference hat hit played string tip together total virginia
We just didn't string anything together offensively. If you look at the difference in our hit total from (Sunday) to (Saturday), it was only three. But there wasn't any consistency. I tip my hat to Virginia Tech. They played well.
billboard emphasize prefer wins
I'm not a big self-promoter. I'd prefer to emphasize our club. I don't think that billboard is going to get us any wins come February.
approach balls beginning game good great guys hard hit jerk key opportunity talking
It was great that we had the opportunity to get those young guys in there. I think the key even from the beginning of the game was all of our hard hit balls were backside. I thought that was a good approach to have that we've been talking about with our players. They didn't try to jerk it or yank it.
came command great hat three tip
I'm not really disappointed in our effort. We had some great swings, but (Roemer) made some great pitches. You've got to tip your hat to him. He came out and had command of all three pitches.
burning compete desire glad happened jump
I'm kind of glad after what happened that we have a mid-week game. I think if you're a competitor, you have a burning desire to jump right back out and compete again.
came coming drive great hitter line smith thrown
It was a great call. It was a line drive right at the right fielder. He came up and made a great throw. You can't get thrown out right there, especially not with a hitter like Jake Smith coming up.
call compete great job sharp stuff
Dustin has what I call the X-factor. If he doesn't go out there with great stuff and I don't think he went out there as sharp as he had been but he's going to compete and give you everything he's got. What a great job he did to keep us in the ballgame.
both game head hitting lord stay thank
Especially when it's a head hitting a neck, you thank the Lord that they're both fine, able to stay in the game first and nothing serious.
dwell few pick players pleased words
We'll just pick up the pieces. We won't dwell on this one for a long time. We've got to play a whole lot better and our players know that. I'll probably have to say very few words to them. That's the one thing I've always been pleased with is they're competitors. They're probably just as disappointed as I am.
cash created pressure
We created some pressure in other innings, but we just didn't cash in on them. At the end of the game, we got more than they did and that's all that counts.
assuming case chips fall goal good happen hard head job opportunity remain work
Every job that I have taken, my goal has not been to see where I was going, but to work as hard as I could and let the chips fall where they may. And that is what will probably happen in this case ... I am assuming if I do a good job, I will get an opportunity (to remain head coach).
anybody beat game given granted lessons players talk
Every day in this game anything can happen. That's one of the lessons I'll talk to our players about. You can't take for granted anything. On any given day, anybody can beat anybody.
