against certainly grew guys learn playing process proud teams ugly win
Teams learn how to win when they're not playing well and this team did that against Oklahoma. It's a maturation process with this team, but I think the guys really grew up in that game. Teams have to learn how to win ugly sometimes and we certainly did that. I couldn't be more proud of them.
exposure icing playing program today
Today couldn't have been scripted much better for Kansas. This did a lot for our program from an exposure standpoint. Playing well was icing on the cake.
both created facing help league prepare provide styles teams
One thing they will do will be to provide our league with styles created more off of pressure, both offensively and defensively. That's something we haven't had much of. Facing different styles will help prepare teams for the post-season.
basketball college excellent guys pro start talking
It was kind of like a clinic. It was excellent for me to get there and start talking basketball with a lot of college guys and pro guys.
blown deal feelings hard helped might proportion
That kind of got blown out of proportion how that went down. There's no hard feelings about that deal at all, but I think in a way it might have helped us.
along ambassador anybody athletic good lives max maybe people program seen stop time touched turn university voice western
He's been as good an ambassador for this university and the athletic program as anybody ever has -- maybe the best. Stop and think about all the lives he has touched along the way, people in western Kansas, or wherever, that have never seen Max but know his voice the first time they turn on the radio.
chapter chose couple dealing enjoyed focus hopefully needs next process
The thing is, Micah Downs, hopefully after today, will not warrant any of our thought process over the next couple months. Our focus needs to be on this team. Obviously, he chose not to be part of it. This is not something that we have enjoyed dealing with at all, and this chapter is closed.
catch good guys involved learning onto played process
He's probably never played with other good players. And learning how to get those guys involved will be a process for him; one that he will catch onto, but not one he will catch onto overnight.
beat bond due enjoys family fraternity guys honestly nobody profession salt seeing somebody strong suffer worth
You want to beat them on the court, or on the field. But after that, there is a strong fraternity of guys that really bond together, that look out for the betterment of all coaches. I would honestly say that nobody in our profession who's worth his salt enjoys seeing somebody else suffer, or their family suffer due to a termination.
ask clothes proper reason street suited wear
You'd have to ask Micah. He told us he couldn't play. The only reason he suited up was he didn't have proper street clothes to wear that day.
faster offensive
We're going to be faster as a team. I think we could be a much better offensive rebounding team,
certainly eight knew league quick six successful turnaround wherever wins zero
I've never thought of that -- 'Is he a quick turnaround guy?' But he certainly has become that. I knew he would be very successful wherever he went, but I didn't know he would take UTEP from six to 24 or A&M from zero to eight in league wins -- and do it overnight, which is what he has done.
afterwards anyone game job nice remember seniors tone
The seniors set the tone early. They did a nice job and I told them afterwards they'll remember this one because they impacted the game as much as anyone on our team. They'll remember this game for a long, long time.
defended eight range score shots turned
We didn't play as well as the score indicated in the first half. We made shots - we were 7 of 10 from 3-point range - and turned it over eight times. We didn't play great, but we defended and we rebounded.
