I broke him one time. You come out to a match like this and you hope for that at least. So you never know what to expect playing somebody you never played before. In his most difficult moments, he was more awkward than I anticipated.
The court was playing pretty fast, it almost felt like playing tennis with golf balls out there. But I am feeling fine physically. I think need a few more matches before I can start competing better.
Playing a surface like we are here is not easy on the body,
I was playing a lot of golf, going out a lot, enjoying Brooke's world,
I felt like I was playing good tennis and that's a great feeling. It's only the second match, but it's certainly a great one for me.
He's been playing well the whole year, so to come here and play a great match against him feels like a real achievement.
He was serving well, playing really smart, taking chances on my second serve. If there's anything to fault him on it's not closing me out in the second, it's going away in the third.
He's playing a lot smarter, ... which doesn't give you those free points that make the difference.
We played a few times, but he's obviously playing way better than the times that I've played him, just like James,
I love playing here -- a lot of memories, a lot of great matches. This is disappointing. It would have been nice to be here, but it's not worth being less than my best.
I know he's been playing well and he's been picking up his standard, ... I've got to believe he's only gotten better. But you know, it's something I'm looking forward to: a good quality match for sure.
I'm unsure about what I'm going to be doing in a month, let alone a year from now. But as of now, my intention is to keep working and keep doing what it is that I do. The only thing better than playing at the US Open for 20 years in a row would be to play here for 21 years in a row,
If you don't understand the mentality of the people, if you don't understand the people, you don't appreciate the city, you don't appreciate playing here.
In every match I play, I grow in my appreciation for this opportunity, this chance to be out there playing at the U.S. Open for another match, another time,
