Socialism isn't just a list of economic prescriptions for government. Perhaps above all, socialism is a moral view.
Does the federal government bear responsibility for what is happening now? ... Should they apologize for what is happening now?
To me, those are the heroes of the story. It was government that failed. It was people who stood up.
In hindsight, you think, yeah there are things you could have done. But at the time we had multiple sources telling us the information and we had people in positions of authority ... telling us the information was correct. When you have officials telling you something and eyewitnesses telling you something, at some point you have to rely on that information.
These people deserve to have the world watching what is happening to them,

I imagine a lot of people tune in simply to watch reporters get bitch-slapped by Mother Nature, and frankly, who can blame them?

This is going to be a difficult week ahead, for families watching at home and for first responders collecting the people and trying to restore them some dignity, ... There's not a lot of dignity to be had in these floodwaters.
