That's always been my philosophy: I try to just be as straightforward as possible, and then I don't really have to question what I said or regret anything ...
One of my least favorite things about being even remotely recognizable is that I'm not allowed to watch in the same way anymore. You try not to hide from the world because you want to still participate and still be inspired by what's around you.
I'm lucky enough to get really interesting and diverse roles offered to me, and I just hope that that continues. I just want to keep expanding as an artist and really try new things.
I find that in life all you can do is try to be honest about who you are and how you're feeling, and trust that it will be received in the correct way.
You know, Ashley doesn't have a whole lot going on in her life, so she'd probably been romanticizing Madeleine for weeks, when she found out she was coming. So when she shows up and exceeds Ashley's expectations in beauty, sophistication and intelligence, she can do no wrong.
Oh, we're going to have a great time.
Moving out to L.A. for me was a leap of faith. I was very secure in my dinner theater world; I loved it, and I was just like, 'I think there's something else out there for me and I just have to go for it.'
That's the bottom line -- that no one gets hurt, no one gets injured, or hurts someone else while they're on the road.
It was nice being offered the role and not having to audition,
It's a surprise to me, and not because I'm not proud of the work, ... But I've been out here 61/2 years, so it feels foreign. But then again, if it helps bring attention to the film, I think it's a special little film and I want people to get to know it.
It's a tough category to predict. I certainly don't expect to win. I don't typically prepare speeches. Maybe I'll do a little internal list of people I want to thank.
It was a lot of fun. I felt like I was being allowed to sit at the big kids' table. It was very overwhelming - all of the history in that room.
Whitney Houston came in. Someone dared me to do "the Gap act" on her. You know, the Gap act. So I went up to her like I didn't know who she was, and I said, 'Hi, I just wanted to let you know about our sale items and make sure to check out our new colors'. She looked at me like I was crazy (On working at The Gap).
I graduated high school and I didn't have a skill set and I didn't want to go to college. I needed a job.
